Merry Thanksgiving

November 22, 2007

I’m such a hypocrite.  I’ve been writing and writing about my frustrations about people starting Christmas too early, and today I became part of the trend.  Dave and I are spending Thanksgiving with my fam at my older sister’s house in Charlotte, NC.  I won’t see Michelle (the older sister) and her family (including my 4 year old nephew and 1 year old niece) on Christmas, so I decided to go ahead and bring all of the Christmas presents for my family to Thanksgiving (to save on shipping costs if nothing else).  So after a incredibly tasty Turkey Day dinner and dessert, my little sister and I passed out gifts and my older sister and her family opened them.  I loved getting to see everyone open their gifts; especially wonderful was watching my niece, Grace, giggle and gasp as she played with the Tickle Me Cookie Monster I got her.  So even though it felt wrong to be contributing to the awful blending of Thanksgiving and Christmas that is so prevalent these days, it was totally worth it.

I hope your Thanksgiving has been equally worth it.

You Think You Know Me?

I am a wife, "mom" to my dog Potter, daughter, sister, (awesome) aunt, friend, grad student, English teacher, book-a-holic, want-to-be-chef, beginning knitter, traveler, and collector of hobbies. This blog is the place I keep up with friends and family who live too far away, let people in who might not know me so well, jot down my thoughts, and document my life so it doesn't pass by without my noticing. Take a look around. Leave a comment. Point and laugh. Enjoy.
